Fontbonne Basketball has been here a while now and they play very well. Our school has won many trophies from games and championships. Players on the basketball team show how they much enjoy playing and how much effort they put into it. To be on Fontbonne Basketball, you have to pass all your classes while also devoting a lot of your time to the team.
Thus far, the varsity team has had four scrimmages, and one league game against St. Edmund’s Prep. They won that game.
Coach Stephen Oliver makes sure that the members put a lot of dedication. There is practice every day except Tuesdays and Saturdays. He ensures that they have time for school and themselves, but also that they are prepared for their games and champions. Whenever they lose a game, he is supportive of his team, no matter what.
One member on the basketball team for Fontbonne Hall Academy, Brianna Alicandro, says that she enjoys playing on the team surrounded by her peers. There were times when they have struggled in games and lost the win, but they always try hard. Brianna says that the riskiest games put them in situations where they feel as if it's “the worst thing.” She plays because, “it gives [her] an opportunity to learn life skills, such as commitment, dedication, and most importantly time management.” She’s been able to pull through and play while still being involved in her academics.
The members of our basketball team put in a lot of work and dedication. It shows that they have a big responsibility for their academics and extracurricular activities. They all agreed that time management is a big responsibility and they really admire how they’ve been able to be involved with school as well as their own interests.
