On March 7, 2016, it was released on Facebook and other social media that a mama dog was reunited with her puppies. The touching event took place in Marin Humane Society in Novato, California. The Bay Area group explained that the dog, named Cora, was finally given up by her owner on Saturday. When she was examined, they discovered she had given birth.
The Humane Society had said that Cora’s owner was “evasive and unwilling to admit” that the dog had had puppies.
Eventually, the group had convinced the owner to give up the puppies after seeing how sad and scared the mom dog was from not having her puppies by her side. Before the reunion, it was said by the group that the mom dog was “skittish” and “frightened.”
In a video captured of the reunion, Cora standing timidly in the corner. At first she does not recognize the puppies, but takes one sniff and his delighted to find that they are her puppies.
The Marin Humane society had wrote on Facebook, “After some detective work and a lot of convincing, our team was able to get the person who surrendered the dogs to also surrender the puppies, as they still needed their momma and were not in a safe situation. We captured the moment when sad and scared mom got to see her puppies again. Tears of joy all around at this happy reunion."
The Marin Humane Society said, Cora and her puppies are doing well. The puppies were named after Downton Abbey characters. They have been placed in a foster home and put up for adoption.
