On Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, sophomore Francesca Martino experienced the her retreat. Dr. Herron is the speaker at this retreat. It took place after school at Fontbonne Hall Academy. It was a time for reflection and to learn more about one’s self.
“The stories Dr. Herron told were really entertaining and insightful,” said Martino.
They discussed Dr. Herron’s life. This helped the other students in the retreat and Martino to learn to value their time and the people who they love. These stories allowed the girls to look toward a time where it was very different. It allowed them to learn about different times and how much someone can mean to another person. They learned about themselves and how to treat others.
“The retreat really helped me to realize how important I am to others and how important others are to me,” said Martino.
Although many of the girls don’t like to stay after school because they just want to go home, Dr. Herron made it fun. The sophomores got pizza before starting the discussion. They all thought his stories were very interesting.
“It was a wonderful experience!” said Martino.
It allowed the girls to stop and reflect on their lives which they don’t do very often. Many of the girls say they would do it again.
