By Stefanie Scotto '18 On Monday, Oct. 30, 2017 Fontbonne Hall Academy celebrated its annual Fontbonne Halloween. Students and teachers dressed up in costumes to celebrate the holiday.
The morning began in the school gym, where students and teachers met up to take pictures with their friends. Some costumes ranged from scary, to funny, to creative. Many of the costumes were pop culture references, including movies and television. After the morning event, they day continued on as a normal day would, just with costumes added. After school, Mr. Ugenti and Mr. Segall did a performance in the courtyard of Shakespearean “Star Wars”. The duo battled with lightsabers and read the lines to a scene in “Star Wars” with a Shakespearean twist. Students and teachers gathered around to see who would win. In the end, Mr. Ugenti, who was Darth Vader, was victorious. Following the duel in the courtyard, freshmen and seniors attended a Halloween party in the gym, featuring music, pizza, and lots of candy. “The Fontbonne Freshman-Senior halloween party was a great opportunity to spend time and bond with my freshman sister while dancing to fun music and eating delicious treats!” says senior, Angela Randazzo. The tradition of the costume contest continued this year, with many student and faculty submissions. The winner of the best individual student costume was senior, Breanne McDonnell as a Croc and the winner of the best student group was “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”. The winner of the best individual faculty costume was Mrs. Glasser as the Undercover Student and the winner of the best faculty group costume was “Shakespearean Star Wars”. "I remember my first Fontbonne Halloween as a freshman and how exciting it was. It is still a great way students can express themselves and who they want to be, demonstrating the idea of Halloween tradition entirely," says senior, Falon Veccia. As always, the event was full of creativity and fun, and is a great way for students and teachers to bond, making Fontbonne more of a family.
