by Gabrielle Carone '18For the 2016-2017 school year, Ms. Gloria Musto has taken on a new position within the Fontbonne school community. She is now the Director of Alumnae Relations. This position was previously filled by Mrs. Carol Fell.
“I am enjoying the work and challenge that lies ahead of me. It varies daily and allows me be creative and bring a different perspective to this position,” said Musto regarding how she feels about the new position. The Director of Alumnae Relations is involved in many major events at Fontbonne. Musto will now be running annual events like the Walkathon. She expressed excitement for the Walkathon because she enjoys watching students interact with another as well as with their teachers. “The students and faculty had such fun returning to campus and sharing a hot dog, burger, and good conversation with one another. I would like to remind students to bring some games so they can relax on campus before going home early!” Musto said. Before taking on her new position, Musto was a member of the history department. Although she does love her new job, Musto said that she will miss teaching social studies. “Although I loved teaching social studies, loved my interaction with my colleagues and my students, I was ready for this new challenge,” she said. One of Musto’s main goals for the year is to get alumnae and students to interact with each other. Many of Fontbonne’s alumnae are very successful and serve as role models to current students. “I am hoping that our current students will be inspired by some the interesting paths these women have chosen and in which they have become successful,” said Musto. Although her role in the social studies department is no longer, Ms. Musto is able to take her dedication to Fontbonne into the administration as she begins the year as the new Director of Alumnae Relations.
