By Zana Frluckaj '19 The Super Bowl happened Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, and Fontbonne faculty and students prepared for this American tradition in their own way.
To celebrate, Mrs. Nicoll gave her homeroom and incentive to watch the game. Mrs. Nicoll started a guessing game with her FA. On paper, people signed their initials next to a number going across and up or down. If by the end of each quarter a student has one of the numbers, they win Smarties. “I thought it would be really fun to get the girls involved. The Super Bowl has been going on for years, and I decided that the students I see every morning could take part in this.” Students also explained their traditions. Victoria Schulz, a junior, explained how she celebrates. “Usually me and my family goes upstate for the Super Bowl and invite our close friends to be there with us. Sometimes the Super Bowl isn’t always about the actual football game, it’s really about family and friends coming together over an American tradition.” The first Super Bowl started in 1967, when AFL Founder Lamar Hunt jokingly proposed a championship he called the “Super Bowl.” The name was coined. Since, there have been 52 Super Bowls. |
